Is there a way to search ALL COLUMNS and not just the ones being displayed?

In other words, I need the global search to look up all the columns in my database table.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
I know I could use the scrolling plugin, but one of my fields includes HTML and it messes up my layout (line heights go crazy, etc)
