Server Side Proc Vs Client

considering the fact people around here are using this great plug-in a lot, i have a question that is based on opinion and not facts.
when does a table is considered too big for modern browsers that you will switch to server side processing instead of client side ?
around 10k ? 50k ?
based on past experience...
