Search one string - Multiple columns

First off just wanted to say that this is the best plugin that i have used. Thanks heaps.

Now to my question...
I know this has been asked before and has been answered, but I don't know how to implement the answer.
I need to be able to search for one string over multiple columns.
For example the table that is shown in the link below I want to be able to goto phone in the first drop down box and search only the three phone columns for what is entered in the input.

I'm pretty sure the answer lies with filtering found here:
http://datatables.net/development/filtering
but I can't find an example of how to use this.
Any help would be appreciated.
