Date Sort DD-MMM-YYYY

Hi

I can't find any code that will allow me to sort a column in the format DD-MMM-YYYY or 29-Oct-2012. The closest thing I found was MMM DD YYYY but I wasn't sure how to adapt it. Can anyone help me please?
